Day 4 - Stimming

Shortly after the loss of Jordan's speech came stimming.

Stimming is a self-stimulatory behavior that consist of the repetition of physical movements and/or sounds which is prevalent in children with ASD.

Jordan would jump and flap his hands all the time.

When he was doing this I thought it was kind of awkward, however, never that is was part of a disability that would change the way I had to live my life.

Yet it did.

I had no clue that his jumping that I was trying to stop was an action he was doing to help his body cope with what was going on internally that wasn't right.

And it persisted.

I had no idea I was dealing with Autism.

But....

"He Maketh No Mistake"

My Father's way my twist and turn
My heart my throb and ache,
But in my soul I'm glad to know,
He maketh no mistake.

My cherished plans may go astray,
My hopes my fade away,
But still I'll trust my Lord to lead,
For He doth know the way.

Tho' night be dark and it may seem
That day will never break,
I'll pin my faith, my all, in Him,
He maketh no mistake.

There's so much now I cannot see,
My eyesight's far too dim,
But come what may,
I'll simply trust and leave it all to Him.

For by and by the mist will lift,
And plain it all He'll make,
Through all the way, tho' dark to me,
He made not one mistake
