What's new in 2025
We made it! Another year of doctor's appointments, supplements, diagnoses, and treatments. Jordan's still going strong. On January 29th, we had a virtual appointment with his functional medicine doctor, which helped me see multiple things. And because of it, things are shifting.During our telecall, I told the doctor I couldn't get a routine going regarding Jordan and the things suggested to help him. Like the enemas, the red light therapy mat, castor oil pack, and the sauna. Not because I didn't have the time, not because I didn't want to, but because at the slightest change in his stimming, I would stop it and overthink what was causing it was one of the four. I tried to change his laundry detergents and hand soaps to the suggested brands, but many of them had an essential oil or natural additive he may not do too well with, like lemon peel. He had the same reactions from the sauna and with the coffee enema, which made me concerned about whether I was doing something wrong, or because of his sensitivities. I've seen the stimming decrease using the brands he uses, so I decided to keep him on those and focus on other things. Those other things were the latest changes in his test results.Jordan had to get a physical for the Special Olympics, and they did bloodwork. The results showed that his cholesterol was above normal, which wasn't too much of a concern for me; he was prediabetic, which I have seen before but didn't know it could happen on an all-meat diet; and lastly, his thyroxine was low. This was the one that concerned me the most simply due to my research findings. When I looked up the causes of low thyroxine, I found the cause was the body was not absorbing iodine. Jordan had been taking Sole water daily, which could have contributed to that. We were giving the salt water solution to help with his adrenal support. I can't say whether or not it was helping with the adrenals, but I stopped it until further notice. Another low level in his results was his vitamin D. That was nothing new. Jordan's levels are consistently low unless we are supplementing. The doctor's answer for the low thyroxine was an iodine protocol. I pulled up information given to me by his doctor for this protocol to help explain it. It states that iodine deficiency comes from halide exposure. Halides are found in ionic salts, most commonly in minerals like halite, sylvite, and fluorite. Sole water, which is made from Celtic sea salt, consists mainly of chloride, which competes with the other halides and should have pushed them off the receptors to help him absorb iodine. After reading this and knowing how Jordan's body works, he may be holding on to the negative instead of the positive, which is typical for him. Because of this, I may supplement with the liquid iodine first instead because the Sole water could be doing the job it needs, and therefore, he needs to be supplemented with iodine. As of today, Jordan regularly uses the sauna, red therapy mat, castor oil pack, and newly added magnesium foot soaks. I just added vitamin D to his regimen several days ago. While I don't see a decrease in stimming, I don't see anything to cause concern, either. Sunday, I added in the enema. This will be my test because to do the job it needs to do, I have to give them consistently three times a week for two months. From there, it can be decreased to two days out of the week for another two months. Then down to once every other week. I will also get an HTMA (hair, tissue, mineral analysis) test that measures the mineral content of his hair to find the imbalances causing some of his health issues. When Jordan had COVID-19 and did a high-dose protocol with certain supplements, I saw an improvement in his stimming. There was none. Finding where his body is deficient in minerals could be a considerable step in curbing some of the jerks he still faces. But as of today, I can see his memory improving. Jordan was out this past Friday. His sweatshirt is almost always sent home on Thursdays when this occurs. This time, it wasn't. When I told him Friday that he was staying home after waking me up to go to school, he told me he needed his sweatshirt. Although it is a part of his routine, usually, that is not something he would think about. And if he did, he could not express it, so I assumed he didn't think about it. However, he can now articulate what he wants to share better, and the brain fog is still being lifted. It's a small step for some, but for me, it isn't, and I am thankful I can see the progress and share it. Most importantly, I can thank God that He is still healing!
2 Kings starts with Hezekiah becoming ill. The prophet Isaiah comes to him and tells him to get his house in order because he will live and not die. Isaiah prays to the Lord, and the Lord tells him to return to Hezekiah and say to him, 2 Kings 20:5, "a I have heard your prayer, b I have seen your tears; behold, I am going to heal you." Thank you, God, for being a healer!
